What happened to whois on Google?

Earlier this week (the 7th to be accurate) Google added a feature where you could search for a domain preceded by the whois operator to get a link to the WHOIS info for that domain. An example would be “whois typepad.com”. Easy. Handy even.

Today it’s gone. What happened? I suspect ICANN is to blame, but that’s just a hunch.
