MovableType searches for “at”

Filed under: Weblogs | 3 Comments

MobileTracker gets a lot of searches (for a site of its size). This is only due to the subject matter, and in no way a reflection of anything else. The interesting bit is that I get 10+ searches a day for the word “at”. Just at. All from different IPs. I can’t figure out the utility of searching for something so common. Any ideas?

To spare my server from working, I made MovableType only serve a max of 50 results for searches.

    maybe they’re looking for ‘at&t’

Hmm. I just tried searching for AT&T and it comes through intact. I’ll have to try it from Windows just to make sure it’s the same.

Searching for just ‘at’ may be a spammer searching for “hidden” email addresses. In order to avoid spammers, people sometimes avoid posting email addresses in the usual ‘user@domain.com’ format, instead posting ‘user (at) domain.com’ or some variation.
