My date with TransFlash

I got my first TransFlash card last week and I must say that I am impressed. This little devil is the size of a dime and holds 128MB. If you want to compare, it’s 15 x 11 x 1 mm. I would really like to see more mobile phones with TF, since it can help keep the overall size down. You can barely spot the slot in the Motorola V710. Now when I hold a Compact Flash card, it feels like I am holding an ancient artifact. Praise the future.

If you wondered how you would get data off the card, it comes with an SD sized converter–just put it in the little slot and you can pull it off like you could from any SD. Slick.

I’m a little underwhelmed. Looks about the same size as an xD card which is already up to a gig or two in size and will potentially reach 8 gigs.

An xD card is about 3 times the area of a TransFlash card. And the TF has the ability to sneak into an SD, which means you can read it much more easily–I assume in any device that sports SD.
