Boston.com’s Big Picture started the trend, but there have been some recent upstarts in the world of high-resolution news photo blogs. I love these types of sites, the world is more interesting in HD. Print media is dying, but journalism is more than words on paper.

Anyone know of any more?

This is a great aggregation of sites. Thank you so much. I have been looking for these sites for a long time.

While not strictly blogs, the “in pictures” sections of both BBC News and The Guardian have decent-resolution (>500px) galleries on various subjects, and both have a “Pictures of the Day” feature.

Both also have blogs proper, but they’re more wordy. The BBC’s is entitled Viewfinder and the Guardian has a tie-in to its Camera Club group. In the past they’ve also had other staff contributing, but they seem to be quiescent.

    Anyway, a bit of a non-US (but English-language) perspective, if you’re interested.
