What’s your spam ratio?

(# of spams) / (# of good messages) = your spam ratio

Mine is sitting at between 7-10. In English, for every good message I receive, I get 7-10 unsolicited messages. You could also read this as, “For every good message, I get 2 mortgages, 2 inches of penis, 1 bottle of Vallium and enough Viagra to nail the whole block.”

** Tip: For SpamSieve users, just go to stats and look at the number in parentheses after the count of spam messages under “Filtered Mail”.

  1. I never get spam. Hah!

Since January 1 this year I have received 52,796 spams. In that same period I received 1037 messages that weren’t spam. Using your formula:

(# of spams) / (# of good messages) = your spam ratio

    I get:

    (52796) / ( 1037 ) = 50.91225

Or, for every good message I get I get 50 unwanted ones. I average about 190 spams per day.

    How depressing.

    Mark:

That’s a lot of spam :). Hopefully a good chunk of those are filtered out by SpamSieve.

The Mail client in Panther is improved as well… I’ve heard it’s better at spam, but it’s major improvement is speed (you can now have more than a few hundred messages in a folder without having to take a break when you want to sort it).

I stuck with Mailsmith, which seems to work perfectly in Panther.

    Believe it or not…

    0.6/1 (1899 Good, 1170 bad)

I have three accounts that are Sieved, one that is almost entirely junk (probable ratio around 10/1 or 15/1) and two that are pretty well spam free.

Spam Sieve and my ISP’s respective spam filters do a really good job of making sure I don’t have to work too hard at filtering myself.

Being the engi-nerd that I am, I know I can’t divide a number by zero. However, I can safely say that my spam ratio is approaching infinity.

  6. Bringing the Funny…What’s your Spam Ratio?

One of the funniest things I have read in a LONG time: from Jon Gales (Note: Bolded emphasis is mine.) What’s your spam ratio? (# of spams) / (# of good messages) = your spam ratio Mine is sitting at
